Roy C. Nilsen discovered the church and heard his call to ministry as a teenager. He graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN.After his ordination in 1964 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI, Nilsen began a six-year ministry at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg, MN, followed by ten years at Faith Lutheran Chuch in Morris, MN.
In 1980 Nilsen moved to Iowa City, IA, where he became pastor at Zion Lutheran Church. During his final six years of full-time ministry, 1998-2004, he served St. John's Lutheran Church in downtown Des Moines, IA, as senior pastor.
Nilsen has lived a life dedicated to a God who embraced him and a church that encouraged him. In the Hollow of God's Hand is published in honor of his forty years of faithful ministry.
